Q1. "Is the demo of someone playing the real piano, or of the samples being played from a midi controller?"
A. The demo is of someone playing the samples from a midi controller keyboard, as it sounds when it reaches you.

Q2. "Why would I need an imperfect sample library?!"
A. Click here to find out!

Q3."Do you have a VST or Gigastudio format?"
A. To see the currently available formats, click here. If you require another format, please let me know.

Q4. "Is Kontakt Player the same as Kontakt?"
A. No. Kontakt Player is not the same as Kontakt. The Kontakt Player cannot play third party libraries. This is a choice made by N.I. and there is nothing Imperfect Samples can do about it. To use the piano a full version of Kontakt is required, or alternatively, you can use EXS24 in Logic. By the time you read this, more formats may also be available. Click here to find out what formats are currently available!

Q5. "What is the size of the download, in gigabytes etc. ?"
A. To see the download sizes, click here.

Q6. "Was every single key sampled (Black and white keys) ? "
A. Yes

Q7. "Are there different mic positions, close, far etc. ?"
A. Yes. Mic perspective 1 is located 2 inches from the soundboard for a stereo, "larger than life" sound.
Mic perspective 2 is located inside the piano, for a "clean" sound.
Mic perspective 3 is located 2 metres away from the piano to capture the room sound.
Mic perspective 4 is located close to the hammers, for a "close", wide stereo sound.
Mic perspective 5 is located underneath the piano, and uses a pickup for a dry, brittle, wide sound.

Q8. "What kind of processing did you use for your demo, or is it dry ?"
A. No processing was used in the demos. They are as the instrument sounds when it reaches you (aside from the mixes containing other instruments).

Q9. " Is the purchase a downloadable purchase or does it have to be shipped ? "
A. It's downloadable instantly. Once payment is received, you will receive a personal download link which will be active for a few days. Each personal download link is created live on the server with your personal ID inside the audio files, before compression. This is a form of passive copyrighting which will allow imperfect samples to track your samples back to you. This is just to protect the sample library from pirating. If a DVD postal service is available, you will see an "order DVD" button on your personal download page after purchase.

Q10. "do you ship to the US?"
A. The samples are available for download. However, a worldwide DVD postal service is available for some products. Please enquire for more info.

Q11. " I have downloaded the piano, thanks. Each of the RAR files unzip to give the same 1.39 GB of data. Am I missing something??"
A. Please do not unRAR each file individually. Simply run part 1, and WinRar (or UnRarX on Mac) will automatically decompress all parts.

Q12. "Are there any EXS and Kontakt instruments updates?"
A.. Click here to download Instruments updates, as and when they become available. If you have any instrument update requests, email info@imperfectsamples.com

Q14. "Can I alter the release volume of the piano in Kontakt? "
A. Yes. Just move the release volume knob.

Q15. "Can I alter the weighting of the piano in Kontakt? "
A. Yes. The instrument is provided in open format, so that you can play with the settings according to your preferences. If you don't know how to use Kontakt, please click here for instructions on how to alter the weighting in Kontakt .

Q16. "Can I use more than one mic perspective at the same time? "
A. Yes, but don't overkill! Treat this as a live instrument: you wouldn't generally want to use more than one or two perspectives at a time during recording a live studio grand piano. Whilst many engineers will record many mic perspectives, this is only so that the most suitable can be chosen to sit in the mix afterwards. When mixing, less is more. For example, P5 is bright, thin and dry, great for busy rock mixes, while P3 has more reverb and a rich sound, suited for orchestral. Whilst the mic perspectives are there to be mixed, it isn't recommended to use more than 3 at the same time. The perspectives are there, not to "increase the realism", but to provide a different sound to suit each style and mix.
